Inspired by Lean UX

Define success

What needs to happen at the end of this project for us to call it a success? Can we measure that? If so how?

POSSIBLE TASKS:
Creative Brief

Investigate the user

What do we know about our existing users? What do we know about their mental models? Is there more than one persona? Are there users we don't currently have that we want to target?

POSSIBLE TASKS:
Persona Study User Inquiries Card Sorting

Explore solutions

Is this a new flow or a redesign? What can we learn from our user research and our competition?

POSSIBLE TASKS:
Competitive Analysis Whiteboarding Swim Lane Mocks Design Spec Style Guide

Test the design

Get feedback as early and often as possible to reduce time wasted on wrong assumptions. Depending on what is learned from the feedback, go back to explore more solutions to address the findings. Maybe it will even take you back to refine your definition of success, or who your users really are.
